Preventing a Counter-Charge
Can a counter-charge be prevented by moving within less than 1H away from the enemy unit, and then declaring a charge?
I take it that opportunity charge would not be available to the enemy unit because the friendly unit is not entering the ZOC of the enemy unit with no possibility to charge.

That's how we play it.

We don't play it that way. Say you were roman between 1&2H away from warband seems gamey that you could creep forward to within 1H then charge to deny the warband there impetus. Whilst I agree there's nothing in the rules to prevent this we play it that if the attacking unit started its 1st move outside 1H the defenders could try to counter charge.

Re: Preventing a Counter-Charge
it should be that if the countercharger cannot move 1H he has no space/reaction time to countercharge. But I agree the text of the rules is not clear.
I mean the countercharge move of 1H should be done before the charge is completed so just after the declaration so if you cannot move 1H then you cannot countercharge, but a better clarification would be required. I will add in the next updated of errata&clarifications.
