A full report will follow in the fullness of time - ie when I get the paperwork back from Paul who still has it in his car :-)
In the meantime thanks to everyone for taking part - I hope you had as much fun as me, and a particular thanks to Frazer and others for stepping in and helping with the admin when I was struggling.
Immediate lesson was that we need more admin time, which itself poses a question about is it still feasible to run a 3 game tournament at 400 points in one day events? I suspect moving to the Classical period meant we moved away from super powered Medieval armies with low unit counts and big factors to bigger armies, so turns took longer to complete, and more games ran to draws due to time restrictions. Talking things over afterwards I wonder if we should consider moving to a two game format and lift the time restrictions? Would folks still travel to a convention for 2 games rather than three knowing they would get a longer gaming window for each game. It would also mean more shopping time and a less rushed lunch. Thoughts?

Happy with either arrangement.
As a newcomer I have to say I really enjoyed the day and found everyone welcoming. It was great to play against 3 different armies I'd not previously encountered. Many thanks for organising it all Ken.

Hi Ken and all,
Thanks to you and all the others who organised the event - I know that organisation is time consuming and it is much appreciated.
To the question posed: is it still feasible to run a 3 game tournament at 400 points in one day events? I suppose the answer is - yes, but you will expect some draws.
Two suggested options:
1) Start at 9am, have less lunch and play for 2.15hrs per battle. 9.00 - 11.15; 11.30 - 1.45, and; 2.14-4.30? Eat while u fight.
2) Play only two 450/500 point battles and worry less about winners and losers (as two battles are not enough to bottom this out).
Look forward to hearing other options

Hi Jon - thanks for the response. I suspect 1 doesn't cut it for shows as part of the draw is the venue. Starting earlier is an option, eating while we fight isn't unless you want greasy fingers and pasty crumbs on your figures - I don't!
Playing only 2 games is better I think, but we would need to stick with 400 points because 450+ really needs a larger table which the venues won't have, nor the terrain cloths to cover it.
It is a dilemma
