The "We are not going to Salute" 28mm Impetus Competition 26th April

For those of us in the North East either too poor or who just cant be arsed with the endless queues and the faff that is Salute we have decided to organise a small Impetus gaming day on 26th April.

The plan is to have fun,

As it is "fun first" the current plan is to be flexible, so the format will be an open list at 350 pts and 2+ Commands (max 60% VDT etc) and the aim being to have at least two rounds, ideally three.

Venue is Waugh Games, Unit 2 Wear Court, Wallis Rd, Skippers Lane Ind Est, Middlesbrough. TS6 6DU

Entry fee is going to be based on whatever it takes to cover costs - less than a fiver anyway

updated w venue

We had a couple of unavoidable last minute cancellations, but that didnt cause any problems. We played two relaxed rounds and then decided to call it and have a chance to talk through some of the 2015 changes.

Everyone agreed the shift to "supporting flanks" is a very significant move and is having a quite profound effect on games. Linear formations are now back in vogue. The need to test before evasion less so bit still worthwhile

The "relaxed" format was also liked, with less time pressure and a generally more laid back day. It did mean we only played 2 games each, so probably no IWL but at the same time we finished around 4pm and everyone was still fairly fresh - a pleasant change to the end of some 3 game days.

Venue was a resounding success for this sort of event - lots of room, good lighting and all reasonable facilities.

All in all some happy gamers so we are doing it again next month - 23rd May - anyone welcome
