Impetus Competition Derby Worlds 2017

There will be a 28mm Impetus Competition at Derby World Wargames on 7th October.

The competition will be 400 points, with 2-4 Commands using the most up to date Advanced Impetus competition rules at the time (on the off chance Lorenzo updates).

This is a free list competition, ie any published non beta list can be used.

This year we will only be playing 2 games. Round One we will attempt to match armies against their historical opponents, Round two will be a random draw. In both rounds we will attempt to avoid "regular" or "club" opponents.

Registration opens from 9 with game one starting at 9:30, Game two at 2.00pm

Thanks so much for taking the initiative and making arrangements. Pretty sure I will definitely be there but will let you know when actually ordered a ticket - do you have any idea of cost. Not much info on the Derby Worlds website yet.

We are pleased to be able to report that the Derby Worlds website is now set up and able to take bookings.

Tickets to the events include a weekend show pass, a £5 discount off any £10 purchase at the show and the Show Goody Bag too!

Trophies will be up for grabs for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places, with prize support from KR Multicase, Caliver Books, Great Escape Games, Magister Militum, Old Glory UK, and The Treefellas among others already confirmed!

Please be aware that many of the rulesets familiar to players at other BHGS events are running as team events this year at Derby, and when booking these competitions you will need to book 3 places (one for each team member) using the form on the Derby website.

John great that you are going. I am only 45 minutes away from the new venue, so if you could get to Coventry train station or Warwick Parkway for before 8.30 happy to offer a lift - not sure if this helps, know you are somewhere South east?

Obviously the event will be a non starter if there are just 3 of us. If we can get to 6 think we will be OK as a competition.

Damn, for a while there I was eyeing a top 3 finish..

You can still say you are "top 10" .......

Do you know what army you will be taking yet? I have a few options and usually play more renaissance based armies. I just added some new flags to Landsknechte pike blocks so they could do with a run out.

Or with a bit of painting (currently squeeze for me to get 400 points) I can take a Teutonic Knights army.

Finally I have some new later Samurai and think I can just make 400 points but don't yet have a base camp. I have not really played with these yet. I wonder if Paul is coming with his Korean for a possible straight historical clash ........

Ken will want us to post lists nearer the time but always good start people thinking early on.

Painting a Seljuk Turk army for my first one for Impetus in 28mm, although there is always the vanilla option of bringing Early Imperial option, basing on WAB style figures on Warbases sabots...

Probably Thracian for me, unless the Trojans get finished in time

Domestics have slowed down my painting plans, so I will be bringing one of my 'old' armies. Probably Wars of Roses Lancastrians or maybe Burgundians...

Having been away for some time I have been able to get to the competition this year!

That is if I'm not too late to register?

I'll be registering now with the Derby Club.

Not sure what to go with, I have several options, but I do like the idea of the Venetians again. But of course I also have Thebans, Mongols and several other options too!

I'll confirm soon when I know that they will let me in.

I look forward to catching up with you all again and thanks Ken for putting it together.

Remind me of the list min and max requirements for 400pts?

I seem to remember that for 400pts we halved minimums. The latest tournament rules only refer to 350pt games...

Hi Tony, pretty sure the convention is that the half min and max still apply for 400 points as written up for 350 points in the advanced rules.

Obviously does make a difference in selecting troops - will let Ken as organizer respond?

Planning on using Late Feudal English.

We will use this from the last "Advanced" v1.7 2015

"Army composition for 350/400pts armies: From 2 to 4 Commands. Coward Generals cannot be used in competition. The larger Command must not exceed 60% of VDT. Halve minimums on the army list but dont halve the maxima of the more numerous troops type(s) (the bulk of the army). Never halve the maxima when you have a 0-2 and these 2 Units can form a Large Unit. Minima and maxima are the starting numbers, not those in the upgrades"

and also the new victory margin calculator - but I would appreciate it if someone else read it through too as its a bit more complex than we are used to
