Questions after first game

Played our first full game of Impetus, Parthians vs Western Han Chinese (using the published beta list).

I need to go back and reread the rules in their entirety now and will understand better. But a couple of things came up and I thought I'd be able to just look it up and haven't been able to find it.

The Parthian cataphracts lined up in front of the Han closeorder foot + crossbow combo large units and charged.

1) Do the crossbow get to fire on this charge as it comes in? (I gather they do only if they are on opportunity)
2) When the melee happens, how do we calculate the dice for the Han combined foot units? Do they get impetus for being a large unit (but they did not charge)? It doesn't look like there is a large unit bonus that applies to them (not pikes, not cp or warband against foot).

basically you are correct.

when the foot are charged they only shoot if on opportunity and beyond point blank range. (they are not longbow-A)

large units of certain types of foot get a rank bonus. usually long spear or pike guys, so chinese crossbowmen dont provide any bonus in melee, although it is them that take the casualties and thus preserve the front rank VBU.
