Questions about the Game
Hello,
I have been looking for a company level skirmish game to play ACW and just learned about this rule set. A couple of quick questions:
1. Are there artillery rules?
2. Are the points balances so if I were crazy I could play an ACW Confederate army against a British AWI army (For example)? Not sure I would do it, but the Harry Turtledove fan in me loves that kind of thing and it would be something in the games favor.
3. How long does a 1,000 point game take to play?
4. We are looking to play games with about 60 infantry a side (a civil war company), with maybe a unit each of Calvary and artillery. About how many points would that be and is it playable?
Thanks!

Re: Questions about the Game
welcome on board
Yes artillery rules are in. Of course being a skirmish game artillery can be powerful and so is limited in several ways, including the fact that you have to "buy" the shots
2. Yes, its has a point system to play balanced game even among not historical armies.
3. Well 1000 pts are not far from what you want to play. It much depend on how you are expert with the rules, but you should complete a game in an evening, saving time for some drink

Re: Questions about the Game
Thanks for the reply. So it sounds like artillery is something that comes in from off table? You don't have a physical model? If so that is an approach that makes sense for a game of this scale.

Re: Questions about the Game
well you have the artillery on board. Usually you can field one and probably makes more sense in a specific scenario, but the artillery is on the field and crew has to spends actions to reload it.
With not huge solid targets the gun will keep the fire until sure to make some hit.

Re: Questions about the Game
Hey Stilger,
We have used S&R for ACW skirmishing it works really well but we haven't used artillery in any of our games though.
We've gamed with up to 100 men a side with four players in total.
Cheers!
