Command Bases
Good morning all,
I see that reading through the rules that actual seperate command bases are not actually required however looking at some of the excellent blogs on the web such as Tartys, Willows etc. I see some games with seperate Command and Sub-Command bases. I know that this is obviously and individual choice however I was keen to see what the majority of Impetus gamers do in this regards.
From a personal perspective I have always loved individual bases however to they interfere with game play in terms of where the commander should actually be in terms of command radius etc?
Cheers
Carlo

Re: Command Bases
Having them on separate bases doesn't matter Carlo so if you like command stands then go for it
In game terms commanders can be attached to units or unattached. If unattached command distance is measured from the deployment base line edge .... but it's still nice to have the figures on the table for aesthetic purposes anyway I think.

Re: Command Bases
In most cases I usually have separate command bases. They do occasionally get in the way but that's not the norm. In a few cases I've put the command figures on the base, most notably with chariots.

Re: Command Bases
We use command bases a lot- they add to the overall look. Unit commands are on small [1''] squares, but we also have GHQ bases which often go in camps [ but not always] and these are great little dioramas.

Re: Command Bases
All my Commanders are attached to a particular unit, but a couple of our guys prefer individual command bases. They don't really get in the way as they can be moved if required. As previously stated Command distance from unattached Commanders is taken from the baseline. This restricts the distance that a unit can move before it is out of command range and also any bonus for having a commander on the field. However he can't get killed or captured.
It's all personal preference though. But if you pay for a commander, then I think you should show him off.

Re: Command Bases
I find that given the base size that you can easily distinguish the command base and still make it look ok. For example you can have a commander on a horse on an infantry base (sounds kind of historical eh.) accompanied by flag bearers, musicians etc.
