Opportunity charge
Unit of immortals T is 1H away fron hoplite unit. The T are activated declares it is going to fire then charge so losses 1 VBU when shooting to allow for the charge. As in zone of control hoplites react with opportunity charge. After the shooting the hopolites charge as this was a response to the shooting are the T allowed there charge or does that now fail to happen. If both deemed to be charging where does contact take place as neither are counter charging. Eric

Re: Opportunity charge
I think the Immortals are caught flat-footed. They may have intended to charge but the hoplites got the drop on them.
If they hadn't shot they'd have gone in but understandably they shoot first. Equally understandably the hoplites decide to 'get stuck in'.
The op charge isn't guaranteed to be successful so its a gamble...

Re: Opportunity charge
You're right I was the taunting immortals I was playing Alan and Mark who you met at salute a couple of years ago. The gods didn't seem to be smiling at me so thought it time for bit of a gamble played the storm of arrows card so had loads of dice hoped to at least disorder him before melee and if lucky he would fail reaction to opportunity charge. As it happened I failed to score any fire hits and hoplites charged in with impetus.
Was a very interesting game Alan burst through part of my centre and destroyed my camp. I lost a lot of units but only 1 point units (Sparabara) so although all my commands virtually broken as immortals and cavalry no losses just survived. With one Greek flank broken and loses of 2 generals and a few hopolite units narrow Persian win. I was lucky Alan through a lot of 6's for cohesion tests I suppose the gods smiled on me in the end . Re: Opportunity charge
aaah, Salute. When will we have events like that again?
Nerve racking game, then. Those are the ones we remember - even if losing!
