Opportunity charge
I played my first game wednesday night and thought Baroques a good set of rules worthy of all the praise it's been getting, my querie is if enemy foot charges artillery but behind the artillery is a regt of friendly foot within charge ranges can the friendlies use opportunity to intercept the enemy? ithink it can aslong as the relevant tests are passed.

Re: Opportunity charge
I believe so - I haven't got the rules with me here but I'm pretty sure anything can interpenetrate artillery, so provided you've got the movement and make the test then I see no reason why the supporting foot can't charge the enemy foot.
In fact that's pretty much exactly why you'd have them there. Although it's a tricky test to pass. We tend to put guns between foot units but staggered back from the front line, so they can't be contacted without first contacting one or more foot units.

THEY WERE THERE AS BAIT
Yes Artillery can be interpenertrated the foot unit was posistioned direcectly behind almost touching inorder to protect the artillery.

Re: Opportunity charge
As long as the guns were not being charged by cavalry (foot are not allowed to opportunity charge cav in Baroque) then 5.5.4 applies, interpenetration during a charge is only allowed in the interpenetrated unit is CL, S or Art.
Rule 5.4.2 "Opportunity Charge is in all effects a Charge and is subject to the same limitations".

Re: Opportunity charge
I don't understand why this is now a second thread?
GG, according to the original question the enemy were foot, so the supporting foot can test to charge as a reaction and interpenetrate the artillery.
I still say it's not an easy test to pass and this is a risky plan.
