Opportunity Charge Questions

A unit of skirmishers or light horse is advancing towards a unit of line troops with the intention of shooting at them.  The target unit is on opportunity and therefore charges the approaching skirmishers.

1) At what point exactly in the skirmishers' move does the charge commence?  Do the skirmishers stay where they are or move half way or what?

2) Can the skirmishers evade the charge even though they are already moving forward?

3) Do evaders move directly backwards still facing the enemy or do they turn 180?

1. The charges commence at any moment the opportunity player decides.

2. No, evade is a response move and can only occur is response to the actions of an enemy activated unit. SK cannot evade in their own move phase.

3. Units move back facing the enemy.

Thanks, I take it they cannot fire either?

Yes - they basically just blew it by getting too close to an un-disordered enemy
