So do artillery get to move around the battlefield and fire just like other units, or am I missing something in the rules?

We asked ourselves the same thing in our first game today but couldn't see why not in the rules. The only thing to remember is taking 1d6 off shooting for every move I guess.

Cheers

most artillery is 1S so suffers the -1 disp. modifier for being slow if it tries to move around too much. 1 BU for prolonging the gun or pivoting with the fire penalty seems reasonable. It only starts with a single die that it loses for moving after all.

Yeah, but somehow I think moving a heavy cannon around the battlefield (especially in this period) would be a bit more difficult than a Tercio Squadron, who also have a 1S move rate, but -are- actually expected to move. Not to mention that means that Eighth Cannon (6 pounders, ART C, move of 1) are actually more mobile than many infantry formations. With the exception of a handful of cases (mostly involving the Swedes), non-regimental artillery should be pretty immobile during this period.

probably a clarification is needed. All BUs are calcualated on the standard base width, so a BU is the same for all units, artillery included.
