Baroque in 6mm?
Just got the rules today. They look great, but now the wait until I go home from work seems longer than ever!
So, is anyone playing Baroque in 6mm. If so, what basing standard are you using? I normally base almost all my 6mm figures on 60x30mm bases, but I see in the rules that larger bases are recommended. 60x30mm works fine for Impetus but I am now wondering about how well that will work with Baroque, and whether I can achieve something more within my budget, so I am looking for inspiration. Thoughts?

Re: Baroque in 6mm?
No reason why 6x3 bases wouldnt work. Im still waiting for my copy of the rules but as I understand it measuring id linked to base width. The only thing that you may lose is the depth variation which may affect recoils a little.
The group I used to play with suffered this when DBA first came out as it was championed by one player who based everything on equal sized bases. Still not a game breaker though.

Re: Baroque in 6mm?
That's what I'm thinking, Steve, but I am torn though. 60x30 fits my FiC trays nicely, and I have a few empty ones that need filling. On the other hand, pictures of other approaches to basing might convince me that wider bases are the way to go.
Regarding the recoils, we have never noticed any significant problems in Impetus with having everything based on 60x30 stands. I doubt Baroque is significantly different in that respect. It's not like DBA where recoil depth is an important factor in the game, as I realised after ten years of playing recoils and advances wrong!

Re: Baroque in 6mm?
I'm playing all my learning games with my 6mm ex-Polemos armies. All on 60x30 bases.
It makes for small tables and small measurements but nothing terrible. If we wanted we could always just call every two bases a unit but that's clunky.
The base depth is a red herring, yes it would matter in DBx but as both are the same any advantage is completely equalised in Baroque - it's a non-problem IMO.
And completely outweighed by the sheer convenience of having 1BU=1 based depth

Re: Baroque in 6mm?
I like the way you think, Zippee. One BU=BD is definitely very convenient.
I did wonder about throwing two Polemos bases together to make a unit, but I thought it might look odd with two separate pike groups.
Looks like I shall stick with 60x30 then unless someone comes up with a good counterargument.
What size table do you use for your games?

Re: Baroque in 6mm?
Ok, cool, thanks. I'll probably be looking at 600 point games or thereabouts, depending upon how long they take to play. Only get 2-3 hours of a weekday night each week for a game.

Re: Baroque in 6mm?
OK, 3'x2' is enough for 600 points and after the first couple of games 2-3 hours more than sufficient. you don't get a lot on the table and with the need to withdraw to avoid disaster games can end quite quickly even though the combats are often not decisive.

Re: Baroque in 6mm?
Because Baroque uses the BU it does mean that base frontage is less critical

Re: Baroque in 6mm?
Yes, Jim, I like this trend of using the base size to determine movement. It makes it much easier to set up games if your basing is non-standard.
