350 point Hoplite Comp Army

Well my painted Hoplites have arrived (thanks Dragon Painting Service - beautiful!) so I am making up army lists.  I had intended to run these as Spartans, and so had got half painted as Spartans and half as typical Greek hoplites.  I realise now that I could just a s easily do the opposite - run it as Generic Greek and the Spartans would count as the allies.

So here is a simple Megarran (Minor Greek) list circa the battle of Marathon.

Average command, Excellent, Poor, Poor Generals, 3 destiny rolls = 77
3 Bodyguard Hoplites, large, VBU 6, B = 135
2 Allied Elite Hoplites, large VBU 6, B = 90
2 Javelinemen, S, VBU 2, B = 24
1 Archers, S, VBU 2, B = 12
1 Slingers, S, VBU 2, B = 12

Only 9 units, but three generals plus elites allows five VBU 6 large Hoplite units. I assume I could advance with the main hoplites and the excellent general, then screen with the rest.

One question - how much VD do the large hoplite units count as. 3 or 6?

Re your point on large units ..... As it will be two units combined to make a large unit then 2 x 3 VD points.

It could be an interesting army, with three commands you could get stuck in and use your flexibility and speed to make up for lack of numbers

Now I am looking at 500 points list options. So here I revert back to Spartans.

3 Spartan Hoplites, large, VBU 6, A = 153
5 Allied Hoplites, FP, VBU 5, B = 110
4 Javelinemen, S, VBU 2, B = 48
4 Peltasts, FL, VBU 4, B = 80

Total 496 points,16 units.

Now 16 units, and three generals plus Spartans allows three VBU 6 large Hoplite units. I assume I could advance with the main hoplites and the excellent general, then screen with the rest.
