noob flank question
Hi
I'm new to these rules and have a question or 2 if anyone could help
When a unit is charged in the flank and draws the resulting combat what happens in its turn? Does it fight the unit on its flank as normal combat or is it still flanked until it either routes or drives the attacking unit off?
What happens if a new enemy unit charges the flanked unit frontally? Is it now the main unit in the combat and the flanking unit only counted as support. In this case if the flanked unit loses the combat against the frontal attack does it route (because it still has a unit on it's flank) or fall back?
If a unit charges across the 5U frontal zone of some missile troops stopping in their frontal zone but in melee contact with another unit can/could the missile troops have fired at it as per the opportunity rule 4.2 or not as it ended it's move in melee as per 6.3.3?
cheers

Re: noob flank question
Welcome
1) The enemy no longer get their 2D6 bonus, but the unit is still considered flanked and will rout if it loses the melee. Or any subsequent melees whilst the enemy unit is in contact with its flank.
2) The new unit becomes the Main Unit – it has most ‘frontal contact’. The flanking unit counts as support. And yes if the flanked unit loses the melee it routs due to flank contact.
3) As long as the charging unit was not on a trajectory that could contact the missile troops and does not end outside of the missile unit’s ZOC then yes they can interrupt and shoot. This will occur before contact and the results applied prior to melee.
