I've been asked to get an 'official' clarification on this.
Units with attached generals have a VD of 3. If this unit is part of a 'Large Unit' do all units in this formation also have a VD of 3 ?
e.g Hoplite LU of two units with a general attached to the front unit does this mean that rear unit is also VD 3 ?

No, only the front unit is classified as VD3 when a general is attached to a large unit and the rationale is simple, the general is specifically attached to the front unit. I suppose only Lorenzo can give an official response but I am 100% certain I am correct on this one!

If you take a look Tarty at EI1 only the front stand is given an asterisk (to designate units that can have attached commanders.) Later EIs didn't bother to break things down this way the but the principle remains the same.
