Is loss of VD cumulative and fate of Command Leaders

I'm back trying Baroque after many years.

P45 VD. Units lose equivalent of their VD when they become exhausted, then double that when they are eliminated.
So, if a unit with VD of 3 becomes exhausted, that side loses 3 VD.
That unit is then destroyed and the side loses 2v VD. Is that ANOTHER 6 VD, ie a total of 9 VD from the demise of this unit alone?

My presumption is yes, as the paragraph in bold refers to an army being routed when its VD reaches 0, ie it would require almost the entire army to be eliminated before defeat occurs.

In my little experiment this Command had 2 units, each with a VD of 3. I interpreted it that Command Break Point had been reached when that first unit was removed and then I rolled for the other unit's discipline. It failed so I removed it and subtracted another 6VD from the army, thus taking it to 19 VD total minus 3 VD plus 6 VD as described above plus another 2 x 3 VD for the second unit, ie the army is reduced to 4 VD.

Have I got this right?

As a follow up Q, once a Command has gone, does the Leader get removed too?

The command of only two units reaches 'Break Point' at 6 VDC .

So if one of the units break, a discipline test is performed to see if the other one stays around. If it fails the test and also breaks then that's another 6 VDs, with a total of 12 VDs from this command alone coming off the army VD Total (VDT).
