Greek hoplites
At long last have finished tarting up/repairing and rebasing for impetus my old hoplite army. Although old figures now they feel like a new army. Had to get a move on as needed for battle of Chaeronea 338BC which we had intended to put on at Salute in April just heard that show now cancelled so will put a few photos of some of the hoplite units on the forum apologies for the 'Agincourt' expression on one of the shields on 1st photo.

Re: Greek hoplites
Very nice. Although some of those spears look like they might snag a bit once in contact?
Hoplites, the only outstanding item on my unpainted list now for Impetus. They sit there staring at me from their box, all 768 of them, waiting. Well they can wait, after all the pike and thureophoroi I'm done with linen armour for a while

Thanks Stecal and Zippee.
I know where you're coming from re spears. Not to bad as opted for the option of basing FP same depth for FL so most contact is ok. The problem i have is the guys above all front rank level pike and as you can see is a real pain have to remember where they 'really' are before each melee. Got pike army in Essex 15mm as well all with upright pikes so no probs. there.
768 hoplites sounds like 2 600+pts. armies they should look great when painted think i would use transfers for that many shields. Maybe get them out of the box in a few months.

Re: Greek hoplites
I opted for a different solution for my pikes

Mind I don't have any horizontal pikes to worry about either Still have to be a bit careful if it comes to pike v pike though, easy to get tangled.

Re: Greek hoplites
Thats effective lose 2 rear rank becomes front rank. Looks good to.
I've got some dead greeks will make some unit size bases with them and stick in front should have same effect as yours.
