Zone of Control example
Something I never fully appreciated with Basic Impetus 2.0, being ZoC'd can be fatal.
In the image, the ZoC'd Indian skirmishers can only advance towards the Arab archers and doing so will disorder them. No rear move as that is still in the ZoC and no sideways move as the only move allowed is straight ahead.

I always thought they could still move straight to the rear

Re: Zone of Control example
you have 3 options
1) stay stationary
2) move forward and being disordered
3) move back
Of course if you are in that situation it means your opponents manovered better that you so you have to pay some consequence. But still you have room to manouvre.

Re: Zone of Control example
Thanks. Would moving back when in a zoc not to the unit's front, disorder it? (assuming it is a unit that can normally move back without becoming disordered)?
Re: Zone of Control example
no disorder if CL or S moving back.
