15mm Impetus at CanCon 2015?

Hi, I saw the guys playing 28mm Impetus at this year's CanCon tournament and was wondering whether anyone is looking to run a 15mm Impetus tournament next January. Impetus has taken off amongst my friends but only a few of us have 28mm armies with a number rebasing their DBMM 15mm armies to this great set of rules.

All of us are looking to head to CanCon next January so, the question is, does anyone know whether there is a 15mm comp planned for 2015?

I would suggest looking on the cancon page if it is up. Or the guys that run winter con may know.

Thanks Boris, i note they have yet to put up the actual competitions yet. Hopefully this thread will prompt some enthusiasm for a 15mm competition at Can con...there are two of us already!

Love Impetus in 15mm, makes manoeuvre a much larger part of the game but I'll be in for 28mm.

We've had a few people swing by the last few 28mm tourneys mumbling " pity your not running a 15mm comp we would have played .... "

I've only just been sent the info from the CanCon organisers this weekend so it's still early days, nothing up on the CGS as yet so there's plenty of time to organise yourselves.

Thanks for the feedback. We have been playing 500 and 600 point 15mm games and find them quite different from the smaller 350 and 300 point 28mm games ...both good of course, just different. Looking to maybe organising a 5 game comp for 500 point 15mm impetus (no restrictions or halving etc but otherwise as per the 28mm comps from MOAB and CanCon last year) running 9-12 and 1-4 Saturday/Sunday and 9-12 Monday.....provided the guys running 28mm don't want to run 15mm as well. We want to add to the overall Impetus goodness, not in any way detract from it.

Exactly ! .... and as it should be.

No that would be wonderful Paul we'll cover the 28s ( actually Starkadder will be running the next CanCon ) so if you want to get a 15mm comp up and running I think you would make a few people very happy.

Anything I can do to help out just let me know. It would be good if we could run both comps in adjacent spaces    ...might have to pursue that idea I think.

Yes, running the to comps adjacent to each other would be great. I have emailed CGS to get the comp organiser's pack so the ball is definitely rolling ....

I think 15mm gives more of a battle. Also they are easier to transport.

It would be good to work together, particularly in the area of sponsors. We don't want to climb over each other with the begging bowls.

I've sent a message to the Cancon people about you. The usual stuff: warning about your credit rating, propensity to violence, that sort of thing.

We should work to get some common text, sponsors and so forth. I am trying to find the real deadline for Cancon (not their advertised one)

Any idea how many points you would be thinking of using for 15mm?

We are looking at 500 points. No restrictions on minimums or maximums but same rules as 28mm around minimum two generals and 60 per cent VDU max in one command. 5 games over the weekend, 3 hours permitted per game (2 Sat, 2 Sun, 1 Mon)

None of this is finalised, just speculation at this stage

Cheers Dazzler. Sounds like you are in the same boat as us ... We are all busily rebasing our DBMM armies after many years ... Impetus seems to have captured our imagination and given our ancients armies a new lease of life, although ironically I jumped in to Impetus to use my 28mm ancients

Why rebase, just make sabot bases if you've already got the army

They look nice, and some of mine were so old they deserved a spruce up...I must admit I like the diorama aspects of the Impetus bases

Oh I'll not disagree with the diorama aspects of Impetus bases, even in 15mm I've got scantily clad serving girls fetching drinks for the general.
But faced with rebasing entire armies I'm afraid I started to gibber   

Completely understand, and I still want to keep a few on DBMM bases anyway do I have that game to play too. In 28mm I am using movement trays for some of my armies as they were either based individually or on 40x40mm....

However, I think Imoetus is here to stay with our group. I am still learning but I find I have a much lower frustration level with the games and some amazing highs and lows throughout which is causing lots of laughs in our group.

Sounds good Paul should be more laughs in gaming.
I've got a few old 15mm armies I'll probably do the same as Jim and use sabots. Old strip Minifigs most of them ( I think he has a few as well )
Don't have any scantily clad serving girls for them though ...
