15mm Impetus - Box by Box
As I update my photos I'll update this thread - box by box as my collection is not really made up of specific armies, rather a large number of morphable troops.
We'll start with Box 1 - Some CP
Two Dragons Milites painted originally as Gondorian Milites but they get used as all sorts of Dark Age kite shield types - 6 bases in all.
Essex Norman Milites originally painted many years ago and suffering from a lot of bent lance syndrome but given the position replacing them was out of the question. The shields were redone with decals when rebased in 2012. 6 bases in all.

Re: 15mm Impetus - Box by Box
Next is Box 2 - More CP
many
Essex Lombard Nobles, spent a long time in the lead mountain. The first 4 bases were painted in 19804, the remaining 8 sometime after 2010.
Do service as many types of dark age cavalry.

And Box 3 - More CP and some CM

Re: 15mm Impetus - Box by Box
And Box 04 - Sassanids, all Essex Miniatures
2 bases of cataphracts - one old style, one new
6 bases of part-barded savarin (what we used to call EHC clibanari)
and 4 bases of unbarded (HC clibanari) savarin.
These are a rebuilt force from an original 1980s army that suffered a lot of damage, so has been reworked with additions, so a bit of a mix but I managed to copy the old painting style well enough.

Re: 15mm Impetus - Box by Box
Box 5 is all CM - Gallic Cavalry (Essex again)
8 bases of armoured nobles and 4 of less well off types, serves well to distinguish native from allied or mercenary Gauls.
Languished at the bottom of the lead mountain for several years - finally finished and based in 2015

Re: 15mm Impetus - Box by Box
Box 6 is a bit of a mixture.
4 Essex Hellenistic style cataphracts, useful for anything from Seleucid through to Pergamum. First units painted in the 1990s, the 4th painted to match in 2015 hence the different horses.
4 Donnington Greek Citizen cavalry - painted way back in 1980-82, before decals so all hand painted shields. Not the best of figures but they do stirling service
2 Essex Galatian cavalry, from an old Gallic army, painted in the 1980s and long since eroded away. Old style Essex not compatible with the current figures so transferred to Galatian service. Hand painted shields again!
2 Xyston Paphlagonian Cavalry, much more recent, 2015 painting I think. Again get used for all sorts of Hellenistic Asiatic cavalry, usually perform better han they should.

Re: 15mm Impetus - Box by Box
Box 7 - More CM
8 bases of Arab Mamelukes, new Essex figures and recently painted in 2015-16
4 bases of early Essex Ghulams - assembled from left overs from the bits box in 2014. I call these Safavid for the heavily barded and Ilkhanid for the others (Russian I think they were sold as) but really they are just steppe ghulams and get used for all sorts.

Re: 15mm Impetus - Box by Box
Box 8 - More Cm (and a bit of CP)
8 bases of Essex CM Arab lancers - I'm told they flags are too much, but how can you have too many flags? These completed in 2015-16
2 bases of Essex Frankish CP caballari - old figures painted back in 1982 or so. Don't get out much to be honest.
1 base of early Essex Ghulams - also assembled from left overs from the bits box in 2014. I call these Turkic but really they are just steppe ghulams and get used for all sorts.
1 base of Hellenistic Campanians - Donnington Miniatures form 1982, showing their age. part of an old Syracusan army, again the don't get used much.

Re: 15mm Impetus - Box by Box
Box 09 - CL Horse Archers
12 bases of Old Essex (almost Mikes Models) CL horse archers. I call them Pechenegs but they stand in for all sorts. Most were painted back in 1982-84, a few bases were finished up in 2014 to round them up to 12 bases. There are another 24 bases sitting unpainted - not sure I'll ever be bored enough to get round to them!

Re: 15mm Impetus - Box by Box
Box 10 - CL again
6 bases of Turcopoles - Essex so old they're almost Mikes Models and 6 bases of similarly aged Turkomen
Most of the Turcopoles were painted in the 1980s, the Turkomen and a couple of Turcopoles were rescued from the lead pile and finished up in 2014-15.
For such venerable figures I'm really please with how well they've come out, puts the old ones to shame

Box 11 - More CL
All modern Essex this time and completed in 2015 or so.
6 bases of Hellenistic Kappadokians, which see service as all kinds of Asiatic types - generally they perform quite badly.
6 bases of Gallic light horse, or sometimes Galatian, or sometimes any general Hellenistic early Roman types. They're a pretty bland figure, sometimes that's useful.

Re: 15mm Impetus - Box by Box
And finally this week Box 12
More CL
6 bases of Essex Late Roman Illyricani - most date from the mid 1990s but some more recent ones have been added - the change in figure style is noticeable.
6 bases of Hellenistic Tarantine type cavalry, Donnington Miniatures, again from the 1980s and that Syracusan army. They get used when needed rather than by choice. One day I'll replace them

That's it for this week only another 24 boxes to photograph.
