Base Depth: 40mm vs 60mm for FP and FL?
When it comes to FP and FL, what base depth do you use?
Do you use the same depth for both FP and FL?
What about for types of army, like say Gauls with 60mm while their Roman counterparts are with 40mm?

Re: Base Depth: 40mm vs 60mm for FP and FL?
Well I use 30mm for FP and 40mm for FL
Not a huge amount would change if you consolidated to one or the other but you'd need to keep it uniform. It would certainly cut the cost of having both FP Galatian warband and FL Gallic warband.
Of course it would make identification of FP v FL tricky.
As long as you're consistent it shouldn't make much difference - unless you're playing in tournaments when it might be irksome.

Re: Base Depth: 40mm vs 60mm for FP and FL?
That is an interesting idea with the FP at 30mm vs. FL at 40mm depths.
I started out with FL at 60mm for Late Persian Takabara.
Then when making some Hoplites as mercenaries for the Persians, the FP seemed to look better on the 60mm.
However, I am contemplating as described above for Romans and Gauls.
My FP & FL tend to look different with type of figure and placement on the base.
As an aside, I use 30mm for Skirmishers. And number of figures per base = VBU + 1 for infantry, VBU for cavalry. All cavalry are on 60mm base depth.

Re: Base Depth: 40mm vs 60mm for FP and FL?
I think there may be a miscommunication.
I use 30mm and 40mm because I play in 15mm
You don't cite a figure scale but I'm assuming its 28mm so the equivalents would be 40mm and 60mm as you say in your first post.
I assumed you would pick that up - you certainly assumed we'd pick up you meant 28mm without telling us

For 28mm most of the guys I game with use 40mm but I went with 50mm for better protection and easier placement of the figures. For large FP armies I did base on 40mm depth. With Impetus 2 the differences between 40,50 and 60 have been mostly removed with the 1H increments.

In 28mm, we tend to use 40mm for FP and 60mm for FL. Just makes it easy for everyone to identify what is what.
