Questions on disorder and reteat.
Hi all
I have a couple of question here I need help with.
1) A disordered unit of heavy infantry (FP) chargers a unit in broken ground. As Broken ground normally disorders FP units does this unit take a causality as it is already disordered when entering the terrain? Like in shoot or melee 2x disorder equals 1 causality.
2) A FP units wins a frontal melee forcing the enemy unit to retreat 1H. The FP is then charged in the rear by elephants next turn and losses the combat. It must retreat 2H but can't move to the rear as that's where the enemy elephants are and it can only move forward less than 1H because that's where other enemy units are. What happens here? Is this base quick killed and removed from play or does it move a little bit forward and take an extra causality?
cheers

Re: Questions on disorder and reteat.
The answer to question 1 is that they don't lose an automatic casualty
You only get an automatic casualty IF they're disordered and you're then shot at or in melee and the other side gets hits on you.
As far as I can see it in the second example, the FP pushed the initial unit in front of it back. If it's defeated by the elephants that struck it in the rear then it's almost certainly a 'flank attack' and is destroyed anyway.
But assuming it wasn't a 'flank attack' because the elephants didn't start behind the extension of the FP's front, then the FP can still start to retreat, so it isn't destroyed. But it cannot finish it's retreat to it moves a bit and gets the extra casualty.
This bit is from memory because I've not got the rules with me
