Pila & PBW disorder?
Rather than ask a detailed and long winded question, I'll ask straight out. Do pila and PBW count as causing disorder by shooting?

Re: Pila & PBW disorder?
For what it's worth I think so. The Pilum/PBW rule specifically refers to the possible need for the target to take a Cohesion Test (with modifiers for firing), and the rules on Cohesion Tests state that any unit that takes such a test is disordered even if it passes the test.

Just for clarity, there is no range modifier for Pila/PBW.

Re: Pila & PBW disorder?
I'm kind of thick. What I meant was do pila and PBW cause disorder by shooting before melee.
As I understand it being shot at ,no matter the result, causes disorder. So a unit charging pila/pbw is disordered before it melees the target?

Re: Pila & PBW disorder?
Not necessarily. The unit throwing Pila/PBW has to hit first before there is a disorder. So for instance, a unit throwing PBW would throw 3d6 and if there is one or more 6s or a double 5 then the unit hit by the PBW would need to take a Cohesion Test and one of the effects is automatic disorder. That doesn't always happen of course. One of the advantages of Pila/PBW over missile fire is that the throw is automatic. There is no need to make a Defensive Fire test.
