Basic Baroque Army Lists

Hi

I'm new to Basic Baroque and notice that the Early Parliament list includes 5 Pike & Musket Units. 3 have a VBU of 5 and 2 have a VBU of 4. The rest of the descriptions are identical.. so what is the difference between the two. Is it that important or can I just use any 5 types of this unit?

I am completing painting some 1/72 scale figures for this period and could do with some advice as to how to base them. I am considering using about 10 figures for an Infantry unit and maybe 6 horse for a mounted unit.

Hi Jeff,

Good question. The lower VBU will be to reflect a lower troop quality, a different proportion of muskets to pikes or both.

A reading of a few of the online battle histories (wiki isn't too bad) will give you a good feel for what units performed at what level.

It will be quality - different ratios of pike to shot is covered by the SM/MM values.
