ZOC violation
A skirmisher unit interpenetrates a friendly FP unit, with the intent to move and shoot at an enemy light horse unit in front of the FP. In doing so the skirmisher violates the light horse's ZOC which passes a reaction test to opportunity charge the skirmisher. Does the skirmisher still get to shoot before the light horse charges into contact and conducts melee?

Take a look at example 2 on page 48. In that similar situation, the slingers were permitted to fire prior to the execution of the opportunity charge by the Romans.
