FP vs. FL in melee
It appears to me that with regard to melee between FP and FL units, being FP affords no benefit, with the exception of the large depth bonus for FP armed with pike or long spear. Do I have that correct?

Re: FP vs. FL in melee
FP has a bonus in cohesion tests:
+1 if shot at (except if shooter is artillery)
-1 to opponent if meleeing against CP, CM, CL
Personally I prefer a bit more difference in combat between FP and FL so I use a +1 cohesion bonus for FP against ANY opponent.

Thanks Jorneto, regarding your modification, that's what I was thinking too.

Re: FP vs. FL in melee
We've been using it already with Impetus 1 and it has proved very satisfactory.
Particularly when matching a FP line versus a FL line. The latter tends to erode a bit faster which feels right.

Re: FP vs. FL in melee
Jorneto you say you give FP a +1 to the CT against all opponents so do you still give the -1 to CP CM CL if so a bit of a double wammy! Plus to FP minus to mounted difference of 2 to net CT result.
We give FP a +1 to CT test when against non FP foot.
Although that's how we play personally feel it gives FPa bit to much advantage would prefer just to give one extra combat dice to FP fighting none FP Foot.

Re: FP vs. FL in melee
No. We don't use both modifiers.
The "-1 for CP, CM, CL in Melee with FP" is replaced with "+1 for FP against any except other FP"
