Baroque: Army Size
I know that this is almost impossible to answer but how big is an army?
To make it more specific assuming a standard 6x4 table, using 28mn figures, 18cm unit basing and any recommended points total for those parameters, what sort of unit count do the lists provide?

Re: Baroque: Army Size
This is the only way I know to answer this. Examples from previous games:
A 600 point ECW Parliamentarian army consisted of 4 units of Horse (2xTR, 2xRE), 6 units of P&M Foot and 1 Light Cannon.
A 1000 point ECW Parliamentarian army consisted of 8 units of Horse (2xTR, 6xRE), 8 units of P&M Foot and 2 Medium Cannons.
The book recommends 500-700 point games on 6'x4' tables for 28mm; 800-1000 point games on 8'x6' tables.
To put that in perspective the ECW Parliamentarian List allows for:
Up to 12 units of Horse (4 TR, 8 RE) any/all the RE can be converted to Massed
Up to 2 units of Dragoons
Up to 12 units of P&M Foot
Up to 2 units of T Musketeers (Commanded Foot)
Up to 1 unit of S Forlorn Hope
Up to 2 units of WB Church Militia
Up to 2 Light or Medium Cannons
There are many upgrade and special attribute options but that's the maximum for the lists. The optimal size is recommended to be 600 points, for selecting 1000 points and up the book recommends doubling minima and maxima.
You also need points for 3 to 4 generals (not attached to units), a command rating, rolls of destiny and exploration points (all similar to Impetus).

Thanks Zippee
That's exactly the sort of thing I needed. Just being impatient waiting for my rules to arrive :-)

Re: Baroque: Army Size
Is the table size and base widths consistent? My troops are mounted on 60mm wide bases; this would seem to mean that a 600 point game would be played on a 24" x 16" table, and a 1000 point game would be played on a 32" x 24" table.
Now, I assume these are "minimum" table size for the troops involved, but that seems like a very small playing area.
My table size is 72" x 40"; is it safe to assume I can comfortably play 800 points or so on this?

Re: Baroque: Army Size
Having played with 60mm bases, I can say that 24" x 16" would be comfortable for 600 points.
I think they are just indicative recommendations not prescriptive - they don't appear to be particularly consistent across the scales.
With 600mm bases, you could easily play an 800 point game on a 72" table - and have very open flanks.
Deploying in depth with reserves is more important in Baroque than most rules, so the frontage required shrinks compared to most.

Re: Baroque: Army Size
Thanks. I'm aiming at 800 points. Lorenzo noted on the Baroque FB group that 3-4 generals are necessary at this number; I'm curious, however,as to how many units can a general efficiently command? Using the French beta list, for example, once command is paid (good command, 1 expert and w fair generals), there are 710 points left, which is enough for approximately 5 horse, 1 dragoon, 6-7 foot, and some guns, maybe some upgrades.
