OVERHEAD SHOOTING

Hi Guys,

Had a question come up the other night about shooting over a friendly unit from a higher elevation. There is nothing in the rules about shooting from a higher elevation, so a minus 2 penalty would apply. Am I correct in this interpretation? That could be a mod for V2, no minus 2 penalty for firing overhead from a higher elevation.

You are correct. Higher elevation has no impact on overhead shooting. I think Impetus has it about right on overhead shooting. I've always thought that the idea of higher elevation firing in ancients times as a bit silly and the -2 penalty makese it happen infrequently.

It might have some relevance to any seige rules ?

Should be relevant to any game. Higher elevation, better visibility, better shot.

Same question in a game just yesterday. We were thinking about no applying -2 penalty for indirect fire, but rules says nothing about higher ground...a good rule for V2 for sure
