ECW Forlorn Hope Units Impetus Query
Hi All,
Set to play a game of Baroque Monday night based loosely on the battle of Stow on the Wold and have allocated two Forlorn Hope Units for the Parliamentary flanking force and when creating their labels noticed they have an Impetus rating of ‘0’, this means they can not charge? Charging into the breach etc is one of the main uses of such Units how are other players handling this? I think I will give them an Impetus of ‘1’ allowing them to charge…
Looking forward to hearing others thoughts?
Cheers!

yes, you are right. Actually they were supposed to be more effective with fire, but a I=1 is correct and I take note for a refresh of Baroque lists.

Re: ECW Forlorn Hope Units Impetus Query
Can't see any problem giving them Impetus of 1 so they could make contact.
That would be an extra 2 points .... 45pts for a Forlorn Hope unit if playing with the points system.
We've been playing a lot of historical ECW battles lately, so using the army lists as a guide only has often been the way.
Musketeers were often peeled off from P&M units to perform various tasks, leaving units of solely pike also.

Hey Tarty,
Thanks for the reply!
Do you list your historical scenarios/games anywhere? I would be interesting to see how you work them out, we recently did a game based on the Battle of Stow on the Wold but I actually beefed up the Royalist side to give them a chance at victory I had it set up ‘as historical as I could’ but it would have been no fun for the Cavaliers, was good though as it allowed for a flank attack game…

Re: ECW Forlorn Hope Units Impetus Query
I use the 'ECW Gaming Scenarios' books by Robert Giglio from Partizan Press. They're all excellent.
They have the unit breakdowns including numbers, ratio of Pike to muskets and troop class.
Not hard to convert to 'Baroque' stats with all that information, all the hard work has been done for you.
Big time savers, I have them all now
