Placing Terrain and Flank March
Good morning,
We had a few questions occuring while playing yesterday, concerning the placement of terrain and the rules for Flank March.
1°) On the placement of terrain: We were a bit surprised that according to §3.6 the player who rolls less gets to place more terrain features, i.e. "chooses" the battlefield. It seems a bit counter-intuitive as the player who has more cavalry gets a higher bonus, and is thus more likely to roll higher. Shouldn't we rather expect that the army with more cavalry has more scouts, mobility... and is thus more likely to choose the battlefield? Consequently, shouldn't the higher roll place 2 terrain features? Or is there another rationale behind this rule?
2°) On Flank Marches, two questions:
a- §9.1.1 states that a player should reveal that he has hidden commands once he has deployed all other commands. But the Strategic Card "Flank March" has show time "Before the deployment starts". So when should we tell that we have hidden commands? I would tend to say after the deployment of other commands, but what do you think about it?
b- When do you choose the side edge of arrival of the Flank March? When noting the command on the battleplan or when it arrives? Nothing is clearly stated about this in the rules (unless we missed it). The first option (choosing the side edge before deployment) seems more logical (rounding the battlefield from the East or from the West is a very different and long trip, and needs several hours of preparation before the battle starts), but how do you play it?
Thanks in advance!

Re: Placing Terrain and Flank March
Sorry for late answer.
1. The idea is that the Player that rolls less is the Defender, so the side with more knowledge of the terrain. The side waiting for the Attacker.
2a. It counterbalances the +2 advantage (not a minor advantage). On the other hand you can use the card to bluff (you don't have the a Flank March)
2b. You should write the entrance side on the Battle Plan (9.1.1 and also see appendix for the Battle Plan). This must ne done before deployment (and after the terrain is made)

Re: Placing Terrain and Flank March
Thank you for these answers!
I understand better the logic for terrain making.
Regarding the answer to question 2a, I was supposing something like this, but wasn't sure... Anyways, I don't think I would spend 6 points on a strategic card just to bluff (but it's just a personal choice...)!
