What's the idea behind the Neo-Assyrian line infantry being FL instead of FP? Doesn't seem right to me. I wondered if it was a typo, but doesn't appear to be.

It is not a typo. You can turn one Unit into Guard as FP with VBU 5 if you prefer.
Also, as FL they can form Large Unit with T.

I just wondered why you chose FL when the evidence points to their line infantry having big shields and a bit of armour and fighting in close order?
