BI2 tournament - 12 May 2018 - CANCELLED

EDIT I am very sorry, but I’ve had to CANCEL this tournament. I’ve explained why in my post of 19 April.

I’ll see if I can rearrange it for sometime later in the year.


Following the success of the Battle of Evesham, I thought I’d do another Kingston Seymour Challenge. I’ve provisionally booked Saturday 12 May. I know it is a few months away, but the village hall gets booked pretty fast for spring and summer weekends. It would be good if you can let me know if you are likely to be able to come. I’ve already had word from Mark, Ross and Philip. I realize people’s circumstances may change by May, but at least you can get the date in your diary.

Evesham was an open tournament. I thought the KS Challenge this year could be restricted to armies from Vols 1 to 7 of the rulebook, so ‘real’ ancients. If that causes a problem for anyone, because they don’t have a suitable army, please let me know and I’ll see what we can do. At least it means there won’t be any Chinese armies to run everyone else down!

For those who don’t know, Kingston Seymour is about 10 minutes from junction 20 on the M5. There is plenty of parking at the village hall. I don’t think I’ll be able to do sandwiches this time, but I’m hoping for another cake to share.

Hi Jez here and I should be able to come. For Matt know it will depend if he is working that day (difficult to re-arrange).

I'll probably have a new Basic Impetus army painted for then - Hittites. We had a gap in our periods and were missing "Biblical" - Matt is doing New Kingdom Egyptians.

I think you always roll higher with new figures ...but that could be bad if it is a cohesion roll !!

With a bit of effort I could finish my EIR or Ancient Britons. But the starting something shiny & New also appeals..

Thanks, Jez, Gareth and Tony. If we have some new armies, so much the better. I understand about Matt; we can wait and see.

I’ll post further details nearer the time. They won’t be that different from last year. Gareth, if you want to talk about places nearby to stay overnight, please let me know. I realise it is a very long trip for you.

Roger - hope you had a good easter? Can i check are we still all OK for the 12 May? Have to make sure I have the car that day.

As an update my Hittites are all painted and had one game against my brother - a draw ... so all good to go.

Hi Jez. Yes, we’re still OK for 12 May, and I hope the others who’ve said they are coming are still OK as well. I was going to prompt everyone in another week, but you’ve beaten me to it.

Good to hear the Hittites are ready. That’s one chariot army at least.

I hope your Easter was good. March wasn’t the best for me, but things are getting better now.

I am very sorry, but I have to cancel this tournament.

A friend with cancer has just been told she has only a few more weeks. She and her husband are organising a small party, and have chosen 12 May. I would like to see her one more time. As she lives on the other side of the country, and her health precludes impromptu visits, we can’t arrange to see her at a different time.

Hence, I very much regret that I can’t run the tournament. As it was going to be in a village hall, it needs someone local to open up etc. so I don’t think anyone else can take over. I’m very sorry to disappoint you, but I hope you will understand.

Gareth, if you’ve already paid for accommodation and can’t get a refund, let me know and I’ll try to reimburse you.

I’ll see if I can reschedule the tournament for another day later in the year, depending on the availability of the hall.

Hi Roger sorry to hear the news. We had some v bad news of our own and to be honest my mind was elsewhere - your kind offer not needed as I never got round to booking.
It would be great to see everyone for a day of BI later in the year
