Terrain Table A or B?

Terrain Table A or B?
Sometimes I find myself "reading in" ideas from one rule set to others, and later realising my assumption is not in the text at all. How do players see the following Table A or B situation?
Army 'A', mostly foot, finds itself Defender and rolls on Table A for its first terrain item. Army 'B', mostly mounted, now rolls... Table A or B?
I had thought it would be Table A, as the defenders table, but now I am not so sure.

Re: Terrain Table A or B?
I’ve always assumed that whether table A or B is used is determined by the defender, so the attacker rolls using the same table as the defender. The rules say that ‘After the Defender has placed the terrain item, the attacker rolls on the table ...’. My assumption has been that ‘the table’ is the one determined earlier (by the defender).
Does anyone play this differently?

Re: Terrain Table A or B?
I'd thought the same Roger, until I noticed an option in Table B that can only apply to a terrain choice from Table A, i.e. on a roll of 10-11 in B you can place a bridge/ford, while rivers can only be placed in A. So the two players must be using different tables.
I suppose this represents a more mobile army turning a canny defence.

Re: Terrain Table A or B?
I see what you mean, Tony. So ‘mostly foot’ armies always use ‘A’ and ‘mostly mounted’ always use B. Less terrain around, when a ‘mostly mounted’ army is present. I don’t see a problem with that.
Shows I don’t use cavalry armies very often!

Re: Terrain Table A or B?
each Player must use the table more suiteted to his army composition (more foot or more mounted), no matter of Defender or not.
