A couple rule questions
Hi just checking I understand the following correctly?
Panicked elephants flee from shooting, one full move 6.2.1. But, do they just retreat the distance as per mounted on the retreat/pursuit table if they lose in melee?
Disorder from shooting: A second shooting disorder result now becomes a permanent loss as per melee?
cheers

Panicked elephants move a full move back - 2H
Yes second shooting disorder results in a permanent VBU loss

Re: A couple rule questions
Unlike Tarty, I think elephants use the retreat table for mounted, if they lose a melee. Rule 7.6.1 doesn't suggest elephants have a different retreat from other mounted. The paragraph about elephants in 7.6.1 discusses the effect of retreating elephants on other troops, but makes no mention of the 2H retreat distance that is in rule 6.2.1.
I think the 2H retreat in 6.2.1 avoids the need to have a special table just for elephants retreating from fire. That retreat distance seems specific to fire, and I can't see anything in the rules which would apply that to a retreat from melee.
There is another difference between elephant retreats in 6.2.1 and in 7.6.1. In 6.2.1, the first unit encountered by the elephant stops the retreat. This isn't in 7.6.1, so I assume the normal retreat interpenetration/push back procedures apply. Thus, an elephant retreating from melee could cause VBU loss to multiple units.
I agree with Tarty that a second shooting disorder causes a permanent VBU loss. It is the last sentence of rule 6.2, hiding at the bottom of the page.

Was only referring to 'shooting' cohesion test failure here.
Yes for 'melee' elephants use the mounted retreat table.
