Elephants in 28mm
How many elephants do you typically mount per base in 28mm?
Do most people just go with one?

Although I don't own any elephants yet I have seen just one per base with a couple of skirmishers running around in support to 'fill' the base. Has to be cheaper than buying two elephant models.

2 per base with my Ptolemaic... 1stCorps makes resin elefants that aren't expensive.

Re: Elephants in 28mm
Yeah, the cost is a factor. I'm using Aventine's elephants, and I have two at the moment. They look nice, but they cost a little more than some.
They are for Pyrrhos' force, so I suspect I'll only use one base. The trouble is, if I want to stay consistent and I morph my army into Eumenes' or Selucus' that could get pricey.
Ah, mo miniatures, mo problems.

Re: Elephants in 28mm
I really can recommend the 1stCorps Elephants - they have a great variety of Indian and African Elephants and are quite affordable. The main body is resin and details are added in lead. The casting quality is good and I like the sculpt and the poses and the price is what you have to pay for one base of cavalry approximately.

Re: Elephants in 28mm
With some research I answered my own question. It appears that elephants would be spaced 15-30m apart when in formation. To include two together on a base in 28mm scale (around 1:60) would be much too close in-scale, even for the highest density.
I suppose that would help prevent accidental collisions and allow the elephants some "swinging" room.

Elephant models do vary a lot is size, and I know that in 15mm there are a lot I couldn't mount at 2 to the base. But with Lancashire games elephants you can get two for less than the cost of one of some other companies
