Support dice with new flank rule

When you are calculating the number of dice for the support unit do you add one for the fact that it will also have flank support(i.e. it is on the flank on the main fighting
unit). To do so seems to be counting it twice.

Hi pretty sure it is just the main unit that counts the plus 1 and adds this in for a supported flank, the support unit dice are then just half of the VBU of that unit

So, do you count the usual add ons like rank bonus etc?

All units count the add ons, be it depth, flank bonus or whatever, the support unit halves.

It's quite clearly stipulated in Advanced Impetus:
Only MAIN units not SUPPORT units.
A main Unit /Large Unit in melee gets a +1 modifier for each supported flank.
Only MAIN units not SUPPORT units.

Zippee is correct! Also, only MAIN units get the +1 for better discipline.
