How are Italian Wars Swordsmen/Doppelsoldner used?

Just purchased Impetvs, and really excited to begin using my Italian Wars armies. I have primarily Spanish and Landsknechts; seeing the organization of the colunellas and pike columns, I am curious about how to effectively use the S sword and buckler/doppelsoldner.

Do you use them to drive off any skirmisher or missile troops? Try and use them to get a flank? What have people found to be effective, and/or ineffective?

Very good at getting on a flank or just a secondary support. Can be very dangerous I've been on the receiving end a few times

Hi i have used these S dopplesoldiers in landsknechte and swiss armies. Sometimes I have used them historically to go in first and kill themselves attacking the front frank of an enemy pike block. This has had mixed results .. sometimes if the dice go your way it can be spectacular. If I am playing 300 points though often I miss this unit type out.

I have yet to use with the new supporting flank rule element so this offers a new potential benefit.
