Tutorial: Posting your pictures
This tutorial should help you how to post pictures in our forum. (This will work with most other forums as well)
Trust me, you don't have to be a computerguru to do this - it's really easy.
First you have to find a place which hosts your pictures. There are plenty of free places where to store your pictures. Free Imageproviders like Imageshack are easy to find but most of you will have a Facebook or Google account anyways and you can use it for this. I used my Facebook account for this tutorial.
1. Start a new topic in the Showcase forum.
2. Open your picture in another browsertab or window.
3. Rightclick on the picture and select "copy image url" from the menu (it's important that you select "Copy picture url" and not just "copy picture":
(Sorry my operating system is in German but it should look the same in your language)
4. Change to the tab where your forum is. Click the "Insert a picture button":
5. Rightclick into the field Url in the menu that pops up and select "Paste":
6. Press the "Insert" Button:
The result should look something like this:
The cryptic number is the name under which your picture is registered at your image host and the name should end with a "jpg" (or gif, png, tga in some rarer cases)
7. Finally hit the "Send" button et voìla: you have successfully made a post with your picture in it:
Of course you can also add some description and other things to your post. if you want a second picture in your post, just start from point one again before you hit "send"
In case you have troubles you can always send me a pm - I will try to help as good as I can.
Happy posting

Re: Tutorial: Posting your pictures
Forgive my ignorance but does this mean that the picture must first be somewhere on the Net like Flikr or can I post from a picture in my own computer directly?

Re: Tutorial: Posting your pictures
Yes, it has to be somewhere on the net first. But any free picturehosting service is sufficient.

Re: Tutorial: Posting your pictures
Well I've tried to post a pcture in my Campaign but to no avail. The picture is here: https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/AberdeenWargamesClub/photos/albums/1936344963/lightbox/192181444#zax/470959754
I think I did what I was asked to do above, inset an image, then put the above URL in the box and then SEND but though the info on the URL appears in the typing in box nothing of the photo appears in the post. What have I done wrong?

Re: Tutorial: Posting your pictures
It's not your fault. I checked it - the permissions in the Yahoogroup are set that you need to be a member of the group to be able to see the picture. As our forum isnt't a member of that group the picture can't be seen here.

Re: Tutorial: Posting your pictures
Well, I put the photo on Flickr but I can't see anywhere I can "copy image url" there. So I copied the URL of the photo itself and went to the Impetus Forum to put it in and while the URL itself appeared - as before - the picture itself isn't appearing. Where on Flickr is this "copy image url" message and why won't the URL itself, pasted into the posting, come up as a picture?
On a more general; level why do the creators of programs make everything so damned complicated?
