Volume 1 Lists - Ancient Near East / Bronze Age / Biblical
Lorenzo,
Do we have any speculative date on when we might see an expansion to the scant few Bronze Age / Biblical era lists available?
The Period volume structure as published doesn't leave any space for further development of the Ancient Near East and the beta lists only offer a handful of extras.
I suspect the answer will be just as soon as I / we produce them for you but it would be nice to know if there is to be an expansion of Volume I or not.

I second that motion.
I would like to see more attention paid to the period, particularly as figure manufacturers seem to have woken up to its potential. It's a great period to game.
Even a half-hearted attempt covering the Trojan War and Dark Age Greece would be appreciated.

Extra Impetus 1 will be republished completing the "biblical" lists.
When? After Baroque (spring 2015) and Impetus 2 (end of 2015). It will be released before or after Extra Impetus 6 (dark age)

Re: Volume 1 Lists - Ancient Near East / Bronze Age / Biblical
Well that's good news I guess, although the wait will be a long one
I should probably just get on with some Baroque armies but the Assyrians and Babylonians keep nagging at me
looks like 2015 will be a busy one

Oh and on a matter of troop analysis are we sticking with classifying Assyrian (and just about all other infantry of the period: Urartian to Mede to Egyptian) infantry as T troops.
Surely the mixed FP/FL plus T/S support archers as large units would be more appropriate and give more flexibility in VBU calculation and front line armament.

Trojan war would be my pick for a starting point ...... some 'important' armies in that list zippee certainly would be great to see a few of them on paper.

Which post are you agreeing with, Lorenzo?
If it helps, I agree with both Zippee posts and Tarty.

Re: Volume 1 Lists - Ancient Near East / Bronze Age / Biblical
I agree that some troops are better as FP+T/S (or FL+T/S) than T.
Anyway let's choose 3-4 armies for a start. So that I can release in a couple of week some batas.
Trojan War could be one. AKA Later Micenean. Or do you want also a more Omeric version?
Nubian can be another, as very simple

That's good to hear
Neo Babylonian and Saitic Egypt would be my choice - I'd also like an update to the Beta lists to replace T with FP/L & T/S where appropriate please. It will make collecting and basing armies much more attractive in advance if we know what the baseline troop types will be.
I've held off rebasing my Neo Assyrians for instance because of the Beta "T" rating
I'm happy to play with cobbled together armies and lists but really do want to know what the baseline troop types will be.

I am building a Mycenaean army right now based on the beta list. It's already painted and at the basing stage. It would help immensely to know if there were major alterations required. I think you would need to have historical with Homeric adjustments as a subset in the notes.
Trojan/Hittite opponents would also be required. That would be a variation of the existing Hittite list.
And Nubians would be very simple.
That makes a nice collection together with Zippee's Neo Babylonians and Saitic Egyptians.

Re: Volume 1 Lists - Ancient Near East / Bronze Age / Biblical
So
Nubian
Saitic Egyptians
Trojan Wars/Later Micenean
Later (?) Hittite
Neo Babylonians
I have a Mycenean/Minoic army and no intention to rebase it

I believe it's usually termed Neo Hittite - Syrian Successor states following the end of Empire after the Sea People's impact, principally Carchemish.
However opponents for Trojan/Mycenaean should still fall under the late part of the Hittite Empire list I think - Trojan War is at the start of the 12th Century BC, and the Sea Peoples impact is similarly dated - in fact the two may be connected! So not really sure it's required.
If you wanted another list I'd go with Medes / Persians from the 9th to 6th Centuries BC as they overrun Assyria, Babylonia, Syria and Anatolia imposing what becomes the Achaemenid Empire. It's the end point of the ANE "period"
Along with Kimmerian/Skythians (another simple list) that would make a decent half dozen lists that would expand the viability of the Bronze Age period tremendously.

Medes / Persians from the 9th to 6th Centuries BC would be awesome I think as well.....my next project btw not that I'm bias.
