Basing 28mm
Our Impetus community has begun to think about 28mm armies...yes, the 28mm fever is here
What about basing 28mm? I remember about some player groups, maybe in Ialy, basing 28mm with 15mm-scale (8x4 cm). Or maybe the 28mm-scale basing (12x4 or 12x6 cm)?
Which basing scale do you use for 28mm minis? Thanks a lot

Re: Basing 28mm
Remember if you change the base size to 15mm bases you'll have to change the move to 15mm moves, to keep everything proportionate
But if you're all keen on changing and you don't tend to play people out of your group, go for it.

Re: Basing 28mm
Go for the big bases - they just look awesome!

Re: Basing 28mm
I'm not aware of anyone who bases 28mm on anything but 120mm bases, if I were you I'd stick with the standard, otherwise you risk not finding opponents.
In 10mm there is a split in basing standards with some opting for 80mm and some 60mm but that's the only split I'm aware of.

It looks like basing 28mm on 8cm bases has a following in New Zealand.

I have been tempted by 8cm basing - If you are willing to supply both armies you can find opponents, or you can use some 12cm sabots. I still prefer the look of 12cm but am thinking about doing an army pairing on 10cm bases or even round/oval bases.

Re: Basing 28mm
Having just recently rebased two armies for 28mm and preparing to start two more this weekend I can thouroughly recommend the 120 mm frontage. It allows the space to "model" so to speak in terms of vignettes and the look is quite specatcular as one can see when looking at all teh wonderful blogs of Impetus 28mm gamers.
Just my opinion.
Cheers

Re: Basing 28mm
To add to what others have said I don't find the 120mm frontage a problem in playing 350 point games on a 6' by 4' table. Unless you can only muster a DBA size table I don't really understand why anyone would go to the smaller basing as the numbers one can get on a base don't really look like a unit. I looked at Craig's blog and am not convinced that 80mm frontage looks that great (even when the figures are nicely painted.)

Re: Basing 28mm
120mm frontage gets my vote as well.
28mm 350 pts on 6x4 really isn't a problem I've seen many games like this played now....and all sorts of armies.
