Didn't some of us try this out a while back ? ( on the old forum ) don't know what happened to that in the end ...must have been axed ?
We played LU of war bands with no depth bonus for a few months to see how that went seemed to work. Maybe Lorenzo has taken that little exercise on board and is going apply it to V2 in some form ?

Wasn't the solution to have two different rules for warbands depending whether you were playing in 15mm or 28mm.

Certainly playing in 15mm we don't have a problem with Warbands and Legionaries. The warbands might occasionally break through the legionary line, but they almost always lose.

Having different rules for 28mm and 15mm is not a good solution. We play in 20mm and I find that Romans are a tad weak.

Yes we decided the same thing in the end...especially when introducing new players.

It's not a good solution but it was the best people could come up with  Embarassed

It's not so much figure scale as table size in relation to movement. I played a game using 1u=1inch with Hebrews against Sea People, and their warband rolled over me in nothing flat. I couldn't dodge or anything.
I also played Late Roman v Goth and the same thing happened with Gothic cavalry against my legions. Everything was on top of me immediately.
We were using 20mm figures but with 28 base sizes and moves.

But we normally play 15mm and don't have any of these problems. I know one of our Americans who plays on a wargames table the size of Kansas commented that in 28mm he doesn't have any problems either  Cool

Yes one our guys played late romans vs goths in 15mm. He gave those barbarians a sound thrashing.
So it maybe a issue more of table size than troop performance

Jim

I think this has been said several times on various threads that the game plays different at 28mm and 15mm and most the problems are 28mm where the table is too small. In 28mm I would say a minimum of 5ft width is needed regardless of game size and the length would depend on the size of the game, but should not start less then 6ft for 300pts and for each 50 to 100 pts. more add another foot would be my suggestion.

We're playing 350pt 28mm on a 6x4.

I am pretty sure that 5x7 would be an improvement.

Give it a crack mate and see if it any different. Well dice permitting.
I have really only played 15mm. Have yet to see a particular army preform badly. Which is refreshing compared to some other rule sets where some lists are unplayable.

Late Romans are a completely different army and works well in Impetus. It is not really not comparable to the Republic and early Empire.
