An hot Fall (books to come!)
Ok, gonna to be an hot fall, with many projects that will see the light.
Here an update on projects. Please take the dates with a good amount of criticism and mostly as a general guide. But this is to give an idea on what I'm planning.
Impetus digital
Impetus rules will be available as pdf soon through Wargames Vault. In theory I could upload it in a few hours, but I wonder if this is the right period of the year or early September can be a better period. Opinions welcomed.
Release date: September 1 (?)
Lords&Servants
This is the skirmish version of Smooth&Rifled.
I plan to finish the English version in a couple of weeks. Rules are about ok, but I have to add 2-3 scenarios and general info on how to assemble an army.
Then one or two more weeks for checks and it will be released.
Still as a pdfwith possible free updates like S&R. In the future, when the rules will be totally fixed, I will publish a printed version (same for S&R)
Release date: from September 1 to 15
Impetus Magazine
This is an old project. In the past I was discouraged but probably I had not a clear idea on what it would have to be. Now I have.
It will be the magazine for the Impetus players. Not only Impetus btw, but also Baroque, Smooth&Rifled, Lords&Servants and all future games.
The main feature of issue 1 will Storming Impetus. And it is thanks to Storming Impetus that I have decided to renew the project. I think that instaed of selling a small pdf set, it was better to create a small magazine with other contents, like scenarios, battle reports, gaming tutorials and all possible supports for my games.
A naval version of Impetus, as well as other expansions could be hosted in the magazine as well.
The magazine will be aperiodical. I plan 1 to 2 issues per year. Will see.
Issue 1 will be out anyway this fall and I have alredy prepared a possible cover
Release date: from September 15 to September 30
Baroque
Ok, no need to tell more. The rules are about ready as concepts. At the moment I'm working on wording and I need to add more examples. According to test the rules work properly.
Version will be English and Italian at first. Spanish and Frenche versions can follow but in 2015.
The book will include 4 basic lists but when the book will be released, on the web I plan to put some like a dozen of beta lists.
I also need to finish my army but this is another story.
Release date: from November 30 to December 30 (but don't take it too seriously)
Breaking News: Troops in Combat
Breaking News is a free set of modern wargames rules. A skirmish game, released in 2005. With the help of a Spanish wargamer, Antonio Jimenez, the rules have been evolved. The book will be published before the end of the year, but only in Italian and Spanish at first. An English version will follow by spring 2015 (maybe a Frenche version too). Anyway the book will be published after Baroque is out, so delays in Baroque will affect BNTIC.
Release date: from December 1 to 15
Other possible release by 2014 are: Extra Impetus 1 as pdf and the Spanish version of Smooth&Rifled.
More on 2015?
Well: Impetus 2, Extra Baroque 1 and Extra Impetus 1 2nd editions will have the priority. Then Spanish and French versions of Baroque can follow.
A printed version of Smooth&Rifled with plenty of lists is also scheduled before the end of 2015.

Re: An hot Fall (books to come!)
ok, if you say it is a good idea, I will upload Impetus digital on Wargames Vault on Monday 28.
As for the magazine, any contribution is welcomed.
I would like to make 2-3 pages every issue with "ispiring units". Pics can be sent to dadiepiombo AT libero DOT it along with few notes on
1) unit description
2) scale
3) figures used
4) any other notes you feel worth to mention
Event reports, battle reports, tournament lists, tactical suggestions, scenarios... all welcomed.
Also Impetus variant are welcomed. I'd like to publish a fantasy variant in a 2015 issue.
The magazine will be sold through Wargames Vault. The cost will be 2.99 USD, thatis around 2 euros and less than 2 pounds.

Excellent, Lorenzo.
I believe that Tarty and I can come up with a few decent photographs.

Sounds great
Will the digital version of Impetus include the amendments published in the EIs?

Re: An hot Fall (books to come!)
no, it wil be the same of the printed edition. Simply in pdf format. I will have to clear this as many think that will be a kind of 1.5 version.

Re: An hot Fall (books to come!)
Wow - lots of stuff! Very interested in Lords & Servants - can you give any further details - number of figures involved etc
Any further Impetus Extra in the works or will those now be on hold until after the release of Impetus 2?
Thanks
Nick

Re: An hot Fall (books to come!)
All supplements will survive to Impetus 2. Also Extra 1 will survive until the release of the second edition of that supplement that will update and will rich some list, as well as adding many more for the "biblical/chariot" age.
I will give more details on Lords&Servants in a specific thread. The rules are based on the same mechanics of Smooth&Rifled but with some obvious changes and with more emphasis on melee.
Numbers of figures involved go from 10-12 on each side for the Small format, till about 100 figs per side in the Large format. A very flexible system to play from the dark age to the Wars of the Roses & co

Lorenzo I'm assuming you will also put the supplements on digital as well as I think that would be a good idea.

Re: An hot Fall (books to come!)
I wouldn't assume that Axebreaker. Impetus is eventually going to be phased out so the PDF makes sense at this point in its life cycle. The EI supplements are meant to stand the test of time and have a much longer life cycle that the basic rules.

Re: An hot Fall (books to come!)
My understanding of the release of Impetus on pdf was to expand the player base especially to those living overseas where shipping costs become an issue. This would be the same situation for the supplements I would think. Not sure what you mean on the supplements other then perhaps a comparison to the WAB supplements which is a different topic.

Re: An hot Fall (books to come!)
Lorenzo has made it clear several times that the rules will evolve but the lists (with the exception of EI1) are going to remain untouched.

Re: An hot Fall (books to come!)
Hey Christopher. I am not speaking for Lorenzo. But based on his earlier comments I'd be surprised to see EIs in PDF form. I wish this were not the case because the cost difference is quite substantial. Easier to move data than ship booklets. But I understand why any publisher would be loathe to use to PDF as a means for distribution.

Re: An hot Fall (books to come!)
Personally it makes no difference to me as I buy the books, but I would of course like to see the community grow as a player, however I have no money at stake so Lorenzo will need to decide if he still makes more on book sales or larger audience through pdf's. All that's above my pay grade so to speak just trying to understand what's his intentions are to help spread the news on my blog.

Re: An hot Fall (books to come!)
the fact is that the moving to pdf is and experiment.
Now if I see that sales of pdf are good and that they don't affect the sale of paper version I may consider to make a pdf version of all other supplements.
But if I see the sales of paper version affected, distributors complaining about this and some idiot to put on torrents the pdf, then I think I will stick on the paper version only.
