War of the Roses polearm upgrade

With the amendment sheet for Impetus 2 and the army lists it mentions that billmen for War of the Roses armies must upgrade to polearms at 3 points per unit. Should this also apply to dismounted Nobles and Men at arms as they too traditionally fought with polearms in this period?

Aahh, just found the answer myself (pays to reread)
"All FP from 1100 AD onwards with VBU 4 or 5 can be upgraded with Polearm."
Good, now have dismounted nobles with polearms

sorry, Zennor, but dismounted knight are VBU 6 and the upgrade is for VBU 4 or 5 Units. This is because dism. knights are already strong enough (and usually some of them not all of them had polearms)

I agree with your thinking Lorenzo. However, I think you will need to amend the pdf How to Use Extra Impetus and Beta Lists with Impetus 2. It says under Polearm "Please note that the upgrade is compulsory for all Units fielded, including in the case of the War of Roses lists, also those billmen forming a Large Unit with a Noble Unit." It certainly gives the impression that large units with a front unit made up of Nobles gets the polearm upgrade.

Thanks Lorenzo, makes sense though if men at arms are then in a large unit with front row of knights there doesn't seem any benefit from the men at arms having polearms in rear rank. They seem to pay the 3 point upgrade for no benefit.

yes, they pay 3 pts without benefits, but you are not forced to form a Unit VBU 6+5 that is among the strongest in the "Impetus world"
