Ottoman list

Had a great game yesterday (Royalist v Covenanters) and stated to plan our next game - Polish v Ottoman.

Looking at the Ottoman list

Sipahis, Delis and Jannisaries can be Massed. Movement rates become 2S for SP, 2 for CL and 1S for T

But what bonus do I get ?

Well as 2.3.1 says

1) A massed unit moves more slowly
2) Unless otherwise specified massed units have a melee modifier of +2
3) Artillery has a +1 modifier when shooting at massed units

The lists offers no other bonus above the standard - so essentially you're sacrificing speed for melee modifiers.

Always to read the rules more carefully .....

I had missed
Unless otherwise specified massed units have a melee modifier of +2

So used to having the lists note the MM change.

The massed +2 MM even makes the cheapo 4-1 Azab warbands interesting if you can get them into contact with a P+M unit without being shot up.
