Thought I'd share some pictures of my WIP ECW units using the basing format discussed in this thread

Very good!! 10mm is really a good scale for Baroque. Nice paintjob on these incredible tiny guys.
Are the Pendraken Pikes casted in the hand or is it possible to glue an alternative pike?

The front rank of the pike unit is L-R:
Pike - Drum - Standard - Pike
with officer out front

So the flag will look front and centre.

Only in actual Pike Units will the flags and attendant halberds, etc be massed in the centre.

Thanks

Unfortunately not - cast or not pikes seems to be a very emotive subject, there was quite the discussion on it a few weeks back. One chap blithely informing me that him having to stick pikes to figures was far more difficult and arduous than me having to cut and clean cast pikes off (according to him this was the easy part of the process!)before sticking new ones in place.

The LOA and Macedonians have separate pikes which IMO is far preferable.

Unfortunately the ECW don't .

Current Pendraken thinking seems to be to offer both versions but obviously older ranges haven't achieved that status.

A bit of a busy week, so not much progress but the first couple of units finished and based up - still need flags and varnish but otherwise done.

Another week, another update - some dragoons and skirmishers painted and based.

Still waiting on the main order, beginning to fear I'll run out of trial order figures before they arrive.

Note still waiting on flags and final varnish - so apologies for the slightly shiny photo finish Smile

Nearly everything is on 120mm by 40mm

Late Tercios are on 120mm by 80mm as are massed reiter units.

Early Tercios and Pike Blocks are on whopping 120mm by 120mm squares.

but for the ECW everything is 40mm deep (unless you mass your reiters)

I there's been a run on renaissance period figures for some reason Smile

It just takes time to keep spinning the same mould and whilst doing that other orders can't get fulfilled. So its a balancing act.

I know for a fact there have been at least 3 very large orders submitted in the last week or so for the same figures . . .

My HUGE parcel arrived on Friday - I then had to order another £50 worth on Sunday!

Sorry no update this week - it's not that I haven't done anything, completed several T units and added flags to the veteran P&M units but I've been on Grandpa duty babysitting all weekend so no photos.

I've gone as is. They're not overlong so have stayed pretty straight. One pose would be easy enough to chop out. The other not so much.

At last my copy arrived this week - the wonders of postmanship. Well after reading through it I tend to make Spanish of the latter 30/ 80 YW.
ECW Parliamentarian is also an option.
