Drawn Games?
Hi just posting to get a feeling from other gamers how often they are ending up with drawn games. Slightly "nerdy" but just worked out played 21 impetus games in 2014 - all in 28 mm either 300 or 350 points. These were mostly historical match up's against my brother, although included three of the October Donington derby competition games.
The scores are 7 wins, 6 losses and 8 draws.
In a couple of the draws I just managed to hang on, but just wondering are there too many drawn games in Impetus?
Cheers Jez

Re: Drawn Games?
I don't remember ever having a drawn game in Impetus. There was one, Romans and Parthians where both armies were too battered to fight on and we'd being going hammer and tongs for over two hours and it was time to pack away. So it's about the only one I don't remember coming to a conclusion.
We've had seriously big games which we didn't have time to play but that's different.
We play in 15mm with a minimum of 400 points and a minimum of two commands.

Re: Drawn Games?
I too find drawn games are rare.
I assume 'drawn' here means unfinished in a reasonable time (2 hours or so) rather than the 'tied' result of mutual destruction. Most of my games are with players familiar with Impetus, at 300 points (or sometimes 350), so we don't usually need much 'looking up' time. A few times we've completed 2 games in under 3 hours.
However, at the recent Cardiff Winter Warmer tournament, where the armies were unfamiliar, we had more drawn games. About a third ended that way. We were probably a bit under-generous with the allowed time per game, and didn't make enough allowance for everyone having frequently to look up unit statistics.
Getting a result in a reasonable time is one of the good things about Impetus for me.

Re: Drawn Games?
I think we have to distinguish between mutual route and end of the game due to time over.
The first case may happen but not as common. I think that when two regular players meet regularly and they build their armies to fight a regular enemy then it is common that games are decided to the last turn(s)
As for timing it is a question on how a player is fast to move and also depend on armies (both foot, in 15mm and with slow players is different than 28mm, mounted armies and experienced players).

Re: Drawn Games?
I think this is the crux of it, two large infantry armies on a big table need a lot of time

Re: Drawn Games?
Thanks for the replies .... as Lorenzo indicated we rarely get a mutual destruction it is more us getting to the end of 2.5 hours or so.
Interestingly last game 350 points was Middle Republican Roman v Seleucid - this officially ended a draw although if we had played an extra turn then I would certainly have won as only need to tale off another unit.
Anyway was just curious about other experiences - thanks
