5.3.3 Movement to the Rear
The rules on movement to the rear state that a failure of the discipline test after the second or subsequent move prevents further movement. However, the rules do not state that a failure of the DT causes disorder. They also do not state that there is a modifier to the DT, like the progressive +1 for marching for each result after the second move. For some troops (mounted, non-impetuous FL and skirmishers), moving backwards multiple times seems easier than moving forward. Is that the intent?

Re: 5.3.3 Movement to the Rear
The progressive +1 is a general modifier that is always applied from the second move (see 5.1).
Also note that disordered S, CL and CM can do one move backwards only - disordered troops cannot march.
You might want to check the movement chart in the alternate QRS. It shows all the possibilities.

Thanks again Jorneto. I missed that the progressive +1 modifier is a general modifier.

Re: 5.3.3 Movement to the Rear
I do agree kenntak that the phrasing of the rules is a bit misleading in 5.3.3 for units that are capable of multiple backward moves. Nonetheless, the principle of multiple moves is still the same as Jorneto suggests and a DT failure from multiple movement to the rear produces disorder.
