Are Legionaries Overpriced?
To my untrained eye (haven't played a full game yet) Legionaries seem very overpriced.
They cost, for example, over twice the amount of army points as Warband, and for that you get a VDU advantage of +2, and Pilum, but less Impetus.
Is the VDU advantage really worth 16 army points???

Yes, Roman Legions just slaughter large units of impetous warband.

Re: Are Legionaries Overpriced?
We have generally found that the Legion units are a bit overpriced. If you compare a large warband with an upgraded front unit at 25 points versus a typical 6/2 legion at 28 points I would tend to favour the former over the later. The advantage of a large unit overcomes the better quality legion unit. But there are so many variables that it is very difficult to made a definitive statement. We tend to normally double move warbands in on the Legions to guarantee the impetus dice but that seriously risks them going disordered for melee. The pilum produces another variable. A hit can unhinge the warband unit. It is amazing how fast the back stand of a warband can disappear. Should the Legion unit take a number of hits in combat and then roll a poor CT it is very hard for it to recover. So we see a wide range of outcomes.

Re: Are Legionaries Overpriced?
Hasn't been my experience. A clever roman players using artillery or skirmishers along with line relief just wrecks warbands, who almost never reach the Roman line undisordered and in a cohesive group.
Perhaps people forget the + 1 for each supported flank and the +1 die for better quality that gives the Romans much more dice than previous versions of the rules. Impetuous warbands can rely on having none of that as they must keep advancing, charging and pursuing.
