Rear attack and Disorder

As the effect of a rear attack is to IMMEDIATELY disorder the unit, am I correct in thinking that the unit losses 1 dice in the melee and will loose a casualty for a second disorder if it suffers hits but no permanent losses?

Correct, effect applies Immediately. Not good to be hit on the Flank or Rear.
