Flank/rear melee

Hi
When a unit is charged in flank/rear and the result of the melee is a draw, what happens in the next round (assuming the flanked unit will be next to activate)?
a) keeps counting as flanked and subject to the respective penalty if losing
b) changes orientation to face the enemy and the melee becomes a frontal one
I would say a), but I may be wrong.
